Ja Paul, ben helemaal weer terug in de klassieke muziek. Lekker hoor en prachtig die symfonieën van Bruckner, Mahler und so weiter.

Ook de drie kortere composities op dit album zijn prachtig, vooral het 'Variations for brassband' uit 1957, uitgevoerd door de brassband van het Royal College of Music.

Ik zet deze CD nog een keer op, zo mooi is deze.

Voor de tweede maal hedenochtend draaiende in huize Cor, want zulke prachtige muziek, en nog heel mooi gespeeld eveneens.

Het derde (CD) album uit deze reeks. Ook prachtig gespeeld door de BBC Symphony onder leiding van Brabbins en mooi opgenomen door Hyperion.


En nu voor de tweede maal, want ik word altijd zo blij en gelukkig als ik de muziek van deze componist hoor, werkelijk hartverwarmend: Kippenvel all over me!

Dit 'A Sea Symphony' doet mij in de verte herinneren aan een werk van Edward Elgar: 'The Dream of Gerontius', ook met koor, orkest en solisten. Prachtig allemaal, die Engelse muziek: Englishness op haar best!

Zo heb ik dit vioolconcert maar weinig gehoord, zo gloedvol, vol passie en vuur gespeeld, door een jonge Izak Perlman, dat samen met zijn muzikale maatje Daniel Barenboim als dirigent van een zeer lenige LSO.
